Mechanism of action
Retatrutide (LY3437943) is a triple agonist simultaneously activating GLP-1, GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide), and glucagon (GCGR) receptors. The GLP-1 component reduces appetite and increases satiety via gastric emptying and the hypothalamus; GIP improves insulin sensitivity and fat distribution; glucagon increases energy expenditure through thermogenesis and promotes lipolysis.
